PGNiG Confirms It Did Not Receive Increased Gas Orders From Gazprom
Poland’s Polskie Górnictwo Naftowe i Gazownictwo confirmed it has not received the increased volumes of gas ordered from Gazprom Export, adding that the country did not need to use stored gas, but simply increased imports from Western countries.
‘Given the ongoing process of pumping natural gas into the gas storage facilities that are currently being extended, PGNiG SA, in line with its existing trade contract with Gazprom Export, ordered increased volumes of gas to be delivered at the entry points to the Polish transmission system on the eastern border. However, such increased volumes were not confirmed or delivered by the Russian supplier in the following days,’ reads a note released on Friday.
PGNiG and GAZ-SYSTEM said that, in the period from September 26 to October 2, gas supplies to the country were on a stable level.
The Polish company also confirmed that it has stored approximately 2.6 bcm of gas.
According to Bloomberg, PGNiG is seeking steeper gas price cuts from Gazprom than agreed two years ago.
According to some reports, Russia decreased gas supplies to Slovakia following increased reverse pumping from Czech Republic to the bordering country.
