PGNiG Commences Drilling of Duka-1
Polish Oil and Gas Company (PGNiG) has begun drilling the Dukla-1 well, located near the village of Dukla in Podkarpackie.
At a planned depth of 5500, Dukla-1 will be deepest hole currently implemented on Polish territory. PGNiG estimates a drilling time frame of 11 months.
PGNiG hopes to confirm the discovery of hydrocarbons to provide data for an accurate estimate of the deposits. According to current projections, geological reserves may reach 700 million cubic meters of natural gas and 2.5 million tons of oil. Estimated recoverable resources is set at approximately 500 million cubic meters of natural gas and about 500 thousand tons of crude oil.
Dukla-1 follows the drilling of another deep hole performed by of the Blueing-1 exploration well near Sanok in Carpathians. Commenced in 2010, drilling has reached a depth of 3905. Scheduled hole depth is 4800 m.
