Petronet's Kochi LNG Terminal to Get Fuel from Australia by 2014
Petronet LNG’s proposed 5 million tonne a year LNG terminal at Puthuvype in Kochi will get fuel from Western Australia by 2014, the New Indian Express has reported. The construction work of the infrastructure facilities to supply liquefied natural gas (LNG) to the terminal here is under way.
The company is also holding talks with US-based companies, however during the initial stages after the commissioning of the terminal, fuel would be supplied from Qatar.
On the supply of LNG from Australia, David Holly, Consul-General for South India, said that Exxon is in the process of developing infrastructure facilities for the same. “By 2014, the company would be in a position to supply the fuel. Exxon would supply a quarter of the total requirement to the terminal. The fuel will be supplied from Gorgon, the nation’s biggest resource project,” he added.
