Petronet Fully Commissions Expanded Dahej LNG Terminal

India’s Petronet LNG has fully completed the expansion of Dahej LNG terminal from 10mn mt/yr to 15mn mt/yr with the commissioning of the two storage tanks, the company said October 17. In August, Petronet commissioned the regasification facilities.

Petronet LNG is promoted by state-owned energy companies Gail, Oil and Natural Gas Corp, Indian Oil Corp and Bharat Petroleum Corp. In addition to the LNG import terminal at Dahej it operates a 5mn mt/yr terminal at Kochi in Kerala.

Apart from expanding the Dahej terminal, India is expected to see new import terminals come online as well in the near future. India has four LNG terminals with close to 22.5mn mt/yr of regasification capacity. Oil ministry expects country’s LNG import terminal capacity to double in next six years.
