Petronas Reports Fatality at LNG Complex in Sarawak

Malaysian Petronas on September 1 confirmed that one person had died and another injured in an accident at its LNG complex in Bintulu, Sarawak, at around 2pm local time on August 31.

The accident occurred at the acid gas removal unit which is on maintenance. “An investigation is currently being carried out and all relevant authorities have been informed of the incident. The operations at Petronas LNG complex remain unaffected and further information with regard to the investigation outcome will be provided in due course,” Petronas said.

The Petronas LNG complex is operated by Malaysia LNG, a unit of Petronas. The nine-train facility has a combined annual production capacity of about 30mn metric tons.
