Petrofac, NPCC Win FEED Work Off Abu Dhabi
A joint venture between Abu Dhabi’s National Petroleum Construction Co. (NPCC) and the UK’s Petrofac has landed a contract for front-end engineering design (Feed) studies at the offshore Belbazem oil and gas field in the UAE.
The contract was awarded by Al Yasat Petroleum, a partnership between Abu Dhabi National Oil Co. (Adnoc) and China’s CNPC, following a tender, Petrofac said in a July 29 statement. Its scope includes submission of a Feed package and a proposal for engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) of facilities. An EPCI contractor will be selected in another competition, the company said.
“This award continues to demonstrate our competitive profile in the UAE at the early stages of a project’s development,” the managing director of Petrofac EPS East, Mani Rajapathy, said. “It complements the wider contracts that we are already engaged in across the Adnoc group, further deepening our relationship with an important customer in this core market.”
Belbazem is expected to start up in 2023 and flow 45,000 b/day of oil and around 0.3bn m3/year of gas at full capacity. Adnoc and CNPC teamed up to develop the site in 2014, with project set to comprise both onshore and offshore facilities.
