Petrofac Wins China Contract

Petrofac has secured a project support and engineering services contract for Husky's South China Sea gas project, Petrofac said May 29.

The three-year contract is in support of Husky’s Liuhua 29-1 gas field development project located in Pearl River Mouth Basin, South China Sea, approximately 300 km southeast of Hong Kong. Petrofac did not disclose the financial details of the contract.

The scope of services includes the provision of specialist personnel to support the project through execution and pre-commissioning, and to subsequently support operations during commissioning and start-up. The programme of work includes subsea equipment supply, umbilicals and flexibles supply; and overall engineering, procurement, construction and installation (Epci).

Liuhua 29-1 is the third deepwater field serving the Liwan gas project in the South China Sea. Husky operates and owns 49% of the offshore Liwan gas project, offshore Hong Kong. Cnooc owns the remaining stake in the project and also buys gas from Husky through a take or pay contract.

Recently, Husky and Cnooc signed new production-sharing contracts (PSCs) for Block 22/11 and 23/07 in the South China Sea.
