Sonatrach Firms Up Petrofac Contract
Algerian state Sonatrach and its construction subsidiary ENGCB have firmed up a $600mn contract to the UK’s Petrofac, reported state news agency APS November 27.
The contract is for a gas compressor station and gas gathering infrastructure to connect 36 production wells on the Tinrhert gas field, the aim of which is to boost gas output by 1.7bn m3/yr.
The project also includes treatment of raw gas at the nearby Ohanet plant by the separation of carbon dioxide (CO2) and mercury, plus production of 750 metric tons per day of condensate, added APS.
Petrofac said in August it received the provisional letter of award for the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract worth $600mn with Sonatrach at the Tinrhert field redevelopment. Sonatrach owns 51% of Tinrhert while 49% now belongs to Dubai state ENOC subsidiary Dragon Oil. Petrofac confirmed to NGW that the contract was formally awarded at a signature ceremony.
