PetroChina’s shale gas output in Sichuan province in 2020 was 11.61bn m³, up 44.5% year/year, its parent company CNPC said on January 7.  

Sichuan province is the main shale gas producing region of China with large reserves mainly in the southern part of the Sichuan basin. PetroChina, the listed unit of CNPC, operates Changning-Weiyuan and Zhaotong shale gas projects in the Sichuan basin.
