Pakistan Well Success for OGDC, Khyber

The Baratai Block joint venture, comprising Oil & Gas Development Company (OGDCL, operator 97.5%) and Khyber Pakhtoonkhawa Oil and Gas (KPOGCL) (2.5%) has discovered gas & condensate from its exploratory well Dhok Hussain well 01 in the district of Kohat, Khyber Pakhtoonkhawa Province of Pakistan, it said December 29.

The well was drilled and tested using OGDCL's in house expertise, to a depth of 5014 metres, and tested 15.40mn ft³/day of gas and 360 barrels/day of condensate through 32/64" choke at wellhead flowing pressure of 2870 pounds/inch ² from Lumshiwal and Hangu formations, it said, adding that the discovery was the "result of the aggressive exploration strategy adopted by the company. It has opened new avenues and would add to the hydrocarbon reserves base of OGDCL and of the country."
