Pakistan Hikes Prices of Imported Gas
Pakistan’s Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) October 10 announced a hike in the prices of regasified LNG (RLNG) for October, according to local media reports.
The regulator increased the price of RLNG by 6.43% for Sui Northern Gas Pipelines and 6.62% for Sui Southern Gas Company compared with the previous month. Customers of Sui Northern will pay $10.72/mn Btu while Sui Southern customers will pay $10.71/mn Btu, The Express Tribune reported.
These prices include charges for LNG terminals, transmission losses, port charges and margins of importers. At present, LNG is imported by state-run Pakistan State Oil and Pakistan LNG. Pakistan has two import terminals located at Port Qasim near Karachi. The south Asian nation started importing LNG in 2015 with the commissioning of the Exquisite FSRU. Pakistan commissioned its second FSRU in late 2017.
