Pakistan Forms Committee to Finalise LNG Imports from Qatar

Pakistan’s Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources has constituted a committee to settle LNG import related issues with Qatar's state run Qatargas, Business Recorder reports citing government sources.

The committee consists of representatives from Sui-Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL), Sui-Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL), Inter State Gas Systems (SSGC) and Pakistan State Oil (PSO).

"We are going to start fist shipment of LNG from Qatar by the end of February 2015 for which Petroleum Ministry has completed the arrangements while Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) is to give LNG import licence to SSGCL; Ministry of Defence is going to issue No Objection Certificate (NOC) which is required to build LNG terminal at Port Qasim (PQ)," a government official told Business Recorder.

Petroleum Ministry has completed all the procedures for LNG import and Pakistan is set to import 200 Million Cubic Feet per Day (MMCFD) of LNG, which would be enhanced to 400 MMCFD once the terminal is complete.
