Oz Jemena Appoints Partner for Atlas Pipe Project
Australian gas infrastructure firm Jemena has appointed Spiecapag Australia to construct a 60-km pipeline, which forms part of Atlas Gas Pipeline project, in south-west Queensland, the company said last week.
Jemena will own and operate the Atlas Gas Processing Plant and Pipeline (AGPP), connecting Senex Energy’s Atlas gas field in the Surat Basin in southeast Queensland with Jemena's Darling Downs pipeline and the Wallumbilla gas hub – the largest gas hub in the country.
In June 2018 Senex partnered with gas infrastructure firm Jemena to build the processing facility at Atlas project and deliver first gas to the domestic market by late 2019. Jemena has awarded the construction contract for this facility to Valmec, an Australian-owned energy services group.
Jemena’s Atlas Gas Pipeline Project director, Mark Turner, said Spiecapag was selected following a competitive tender process in first quarter of 2019.
Once completed by the end of 2019, the Atlas Gas Pipeline will have the capacity to transport 40 terajoules/day of gas (0.85mn m3/d).
