Oz EWC Starts Gas Compressors in Indonesia
Australia-listed Energy World Corporation (EWC) has installed and started two gas compressor units that will boost gas production for supply of gas to Sengkang power plant in Indonesia, it said July 8.
The units were installed by its wholly owned subsidiary Energy Equity Epic while the power plant is currently owned and operated by Energi Sengkang, another subsidiary of EWC.
With the operation of the compressors, Energy Equity Epic will be in a position to deliver more gas to Energi Sengkang which will then be able to supply more electricity when required, EWC said. Energy Equity Epic will also be better able to support Energi Sengkang in the discussion of an extension of the power purchase agreement for the Sengkang power plant with the Indonesian national utility, Perusahaan Listrik Negara, beyond September 2022, the company said.
“The current PPA is a long term take-or-pay power agreement that runs to 2022. Discussion for its extension has commenced,” EWC said.
Installation of these two gas compressor units follows the signing by Energy Equity Epic in December 2018 a 20- year extension to the Sengkang production sharing contract by extending the expiry date from October 2022 to October 2042.
EWC said that with this extension in place, Energy Equity Epic is able to implement plans to supply gas for additional power generation, city gas and provision of additional reserves for EWC’s Sengkang LNG facility.
