Oz Armour Spuds 2nd Well in 2019 Kincora Campaign
Australian explorer Armour Energy has started drilling a second well in its two-well drilling campaign for this year at its Kincora gas project in Queensland.
The Horseshoe 4 development well at Armour’s wholly-owned licence PL227 was spudded late on October 21, the company said in a statement the following day. Like the previous Myall Creek North 1 well, its aim is to assess both conventional and tight-gas potential in Permian and Triassic reservoirs within the Myall Creek field. Immediately after its completion, the well will be hooked up to Armour’s gas gathering system to enable commercial production.
Armour acquired the Kincora gas project in 2015 from Origin Energy, restarting its production the following year. In addition to the new wells, Armour also plans to undertake a workover campaign over a three-month period to maximise output at existing wells as part of its phase-three growth strategy.
Horseshoe 4 will be sunk to a depth of 2,073 metres, using a rig provided by independent supplier Silver City Drilling.
