Osaka Gas, Pertamina to Market Gas in Indonesia
Japan’s Osaka Gas said October 23 that it has started a gas marketing company in Indonesia, in partnership with the country's state-owned firm, Pertamina.
The licence to market gas in the southeast Asian nation was issued to Osaka Gas Indonesia, a unit of Osaka Gas, October 18. Indonesia will be the third country in the region where Osaka Gas has developed an energy business, besides Singapore and Thailand.
“Under the agreement with the Pertamina Group, the largest energy company in Indonesia, Osaka Gas aims to contribute to energy conservation and environmental footprint reduction in the country by promoting efficient energy use and fuel switching to natural gas,” Osaka said.
The company added that Osaka Gas is also preparing to launch an energy service in Indonesia that would support customers in introducing natural gas facilities to their plants with financing schemes, and is planning to expand the business over a wider area across the country.
