Origin Strikes Oz Beetaloo Gas
Sydney-listed Origin Energy has discovered gas at the Kyalla 117 N2-1H ST2 well in the Beetaloo sub-basin in Northern Territory, its partner Falcon Oil & Gas said on January 19.
Origin has submitted a notification of discovery and an initial report to the government.

The well achieved unassisted gas flow rates ranging between 0.4-0.6mn ft3/day over 17 hours. Flow back of hydraulic fracture stimulation water to surface over the same period averaged between 400-600 barrels/d.
“The early-stage flow rates are preliminary indications of well performance, and an extended production test will be required to determine the long-term performance of Kyalla 117,” Falcon added.
The Australian government last week announced it would enhance road infrastructure in the Northern Territory. Falcon said these upgrades would support gas development and other industries in and around the Beetaloo sub-basin.
