Oman to Award New Hydrocarbon Blocks This Year
Oman is likely to award three new hydrocarbon blocks to international oil companies this year, a government official said Monday. The blocks are mainly onshore acreage distributed across the Sultanate.
Regarding the decision on the commercialisation of BP’s tight gas reserves in Block 61, the official said that talks are progressing very well final decision will be taken in 2013.
Meanwhile, Petroleum Development Oman has reported a number of new oil and gas discoveries, as well as the addition of 450 million barrels of oil equivalent (BoE) in new hydrocarbon reserves during 2011.
