OGDCL finds oil, gas in Pakistan's Sindh province

Oil and Gas Development Company (OGDCL) has discovered oil and gas at the Kot Nawab-1 exploration well located in Pakistan’s Sindh Province, it said on December 22.

OGDCL is the operator and a partner in the Sinjhoro block joint venture with 76% interest. Other stakeholders are Orient Petroleum (19%) and Government Holdings (5%).

“The said discovery is the 11th discovery in Sinjhoro block which shows the commitment of Sinjhoro JV to exploit the hydrocarbon potential of the block and aggressive exploration strategy,” OGDCL said. “It has opened a new avenue and will positively contribute to mitigating energy demand and supply gap from indigenous resources and will add to the hydrocarbon reserves base of OGDCL and the country.”

Kot Nawab-1 was spudded in June this year and drilled down to 3,000 m. The drill stem test-1 in the Basal Sand has tested 125 barrels/day of oil and 0.483 mn ft3/day of gas.
