Norwest Applies to Conduct Fracking at Arrowsmith-2
Norwest Energy NL has applied to the Department of Mines and Petroleum of Western Australia (DMP) for approval to carry out hydraulic fracture stimulation operations at the Arrowsmith-2 well in the EP413 permit in the Northern Perth Basin.
The company said that media reports had incorrectly noted that all necessary approvals to proceed with the reported hydraulic fracture stimulation program has been received. Norwest said that it had not yet received the required approvals to proceed with this program.
Norwest said that it has provided all of the necessary data to the DMP to support its application, and is currently awaiting formal approval. Norwest will not proceed until all approvals are in place.
In the interim, Norwest said that it was continuing to work towards a start date of 1st September, as planned, with all services, equipment and consumables in place to facilitate the program commencement, immediately upon receipt of the final approval by the DMP.
