Norwegian Strike Ended

Norwegian trade union Industri Energi says it has ended the strike involving some 300 oil service workers, after securing equalised wage differentials between oil employees and other oil workers, its chief negotiator Ommund Stokka said October 11.

Its industrial action, which started 20 days ago, targeted five companies Schlumberger, Baker Hughes, Halliburton, Oceaneering and Oceaneering Asset Integrity and halted some offshore drilling work.

"We are naturally pleased that the strike has ended," said employers' group Norwegian Oil and Gas Association chief negotiator Jan Hodneland: "Now we have found a solution through reallocation of payroll funds."

It is the second Norwegian offshore industrial dispute to have been resolved in recent days.
