Norwegian February Gas Output Dips
Norwegian gas production in February averaged 321mn m³/day, compared with the December forecast of 321.2mn m³/d, the upstream regulatory Norwegian Petroleum Directorate said March 19. However both oil and liquids production were fractionally up compared with the forecast.
February gas output was also down 2.8% from January's 330.2mn m³/d and down 5.8% from February 2020's 340.7mn m³/d. Nearly all the gas is exported to Europe by pipeline, but late last year there was a fire at the LNG plant at Hammerfest, which normally liquefies gas from Snohvit; and also a fire at a methanol plant, which uses gas from the Heidrun field. That plant is now operational once more.
