NIGC Delivers Record Volumes of Gas to Iranian Power Plants
National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) set a new record by delivering over 58 bcm of gas to power plants during last Iranian calendar year which ended on March 20.
Naser Ebrahimi, an official with NIGC, told news agency Shana that the last year the company supplied around 50 bcm of gas to power plants.
On average, NIGC delivered 158mcm/d of gas to power plants across the country while the amount was 137mcm/d for the previous calendar year, Ebrahimi added.
Natural gas made up almost 80 percent of plants' fuel needs.
With focus on environment, Iran is seeking to replace gas with liquid fuels for power generation.
Furthermore, Iran consumed 247.3mcm of gas in household, trade and small industrial sectors, he added.
