New South Wales May Join to regulate CSG Industry
New South Wales may join the federal government in moving to regulate the coal seam gas industry.
The move comes after a recent CSG spill in the Pilliga state forest last month as the incident drew massive criticism.
Late last year, the federal government announced its intention to work with the states to develop a national framework for the industry.
The new agreement would lead to independent assessment of coal seam gas mining and expansion proposals that impact water resources. Last month, Queensland became the first state to sign up for the new agreement.
