China Starts Work on New LNG Import Terminal

China’s Nanshan Group has started work on an LNG import terminal project in Yantai, Shandong Province, it said on May 16 in a statement.

Nanshan said it is working in conjunction with the National Petroleum and Natural Gas Pipeline Network Group (PipeChina). This project is the first major energy infrastructure project managed by PipeChina since it was established in December last year, Nanshan said.

The Longkou Nanshan LNG project has been designed to have a first phase capacity of 5mn metric tons/year. In the initial phase, the terminal will have six LNG storage tanks, each with a capacity of 220,000 m3. The first phase is expected to be complete by 2023.
