Star Africa: Namibia Committed to Address Energy Challenges – Minister Says
With a possible power crisis looming over Namibia from mid-2016, Mines and Energy Minister Obed Kandjoze says the government is pulling out all stops in addressing power supply challenges. In his address to the 2015 Mining Expo and Conference on Wednesday, Kandjoze said the government was working around the clock to ensure the realisation of the Kudu Gas-to-Power and Baynes Hydropower projects.
He noted that the Government has undertaken to embark on the Kudu Gas-to-Power Project in order to deal with the challenges posed by being a net importer and to meet the rising demand for electricity in the country in the medium to long term.
