LEP: MP’s fracking talks with PM

The Prime Minister has met with Preston North MP Ben Wallace to discuss getting more money for communities if fracking gets the go-ahead in Lancashire.

The United Kingdom Onshore Operators Group has launched a Shale Community Engagement Charter, which promises money for communities where fracking - the controversial process of firing liquid underground to release shale gas in rocks - takes place.

David Cameron spoke to Mr Wallace, along with Fylde MP Mark Menzies and Paul Maynard, MP for Blackpool North and Cleveleys, about securing more than the proposed one per cent in revenue for communities.

The Wyre and Preston North MP believes Lancashire, Cheshire and parts of West Yorkshire will receive £2.6bn as part of their share, but he is fighting for more.  MORE
