Macauhub: Mozambique approves launch of natural gas projects in the Rovuma basin

The government of Mozambique has approved the start of natural gas liquefaction projects for the gas that will be extracted in the Rovuma basin, Cabo Delgado province, according to a statement from the secretariat of the Council of Ministers published in Maputo.

The ordinance approved by the government during the Council of Ministers meeting of 25 November refers to areas 1 and 4 of the Rovuma Basin, projects that are in the hands of US group Anadarko Petroleum and Italy’s ENI, estimated to cost over US$30 billion.

“The ordinance applies to projects in areas 1 and 4 of the Rovuma Basin, whether carried out only under concession contracts for exploration and production, or under the terms of combined concession agreements for exploration and production and government agreements,” the statement said.
