Mosman hooks up Winters-2 well in East Texas
Mosman Oil and Gas said March 7 it had launched the Winters-2 gas well at its Winters gas lease in Polk County, East Texas.
The London-listed independent producer estimates the initial flow rate at 545,000 m3/day, equating to 105 barrels/day of oil equivalent. That is slightly less than recorded during flow testing, where Winters-2 produced from 576,000 to 624,000 m3/d.

Mosman says the well and equipment will be monitored with a view to adjusting the flow rate in due course.
Winters-2 was recompleted at depths of 6,695 to 6,700 ft in the Wilcox sand layer. Mosman is the operator with a 23% working interest held by its subsidiary Nadsoilco, which it acquired last July in a £1.1mn ($1.5mn) transaction.
Purchasing Nadsoilco also allowed Mosman to take its existing stake in nearby oil concession Stanley to 36.5%, from around 20% previously. Some 124 b/d of oil was produced at Stanley in the 12 months ending June 30, 2021, and a new well was brought on stream there in late 2021. Mosman aims to recomplete another well, Stanley-5, following the completion of Winters-2.
The company produced 63 boe/d in the year up to June 30, 2021 from its five assets, excluding Winters. Mosman participates in the Winters-1 well and also produces hydrocarbons from Falcon-1 (75%), Livingston (20%) and Greater Stanley (40%), all situated in Texas, as well as Arkoma (27%) in Oklahoma.
Away from the US, Mosman has a 100% stake in two exploration-stage licences in Australia's Northern Territory: EP145 and EPA 155.
