Modi inaugurates ONGC U-Field onshore facilities
Indian state-run oil and gas producer ONGC on November 12 said its U-field onshore facilities of KG-DWN-98/2 deep water block were inaugurated by prime minister Narendra Modi.
The U-field is part of ONGC’s flagship deep-water KG-DWN-98/2 Cluster-II development project in the Krishna Godavari basin offshore India’s east coast. U-field is the deepest gas discovery of the project, ONGC said, with a gas production potential of about 3mn m3/day.

The gas from these wells is evacuated through the subsea facilities connected to an onshore terminal at Odalarevu situated in Dr. B R Ambedkar Konaseema district of the state of Andhra Pradesh.
U-field monetisation involves a capital expenditure of 29.17bn rupees ($360mn). “Gas produced from this project will add significant volumes to ONGC’s production and will be a giant leap towards making India a gas-based economy and energy security,” the company said.
