Modi said that gas-based economy is the need of the hour for India. “One nation-one gas grid is an important step for meeting this need. For this, focus is on reducing cost of natural gas and expanding gas-pipeline network,” he said.

India is promoting the usage of gas to tackle air pollution. The government hopes to increase the share of gas in the energy mix to 15% by 2030 from 6-7% now.
