Mitsui to Build Gas Based Power Plants in Oman
Mitsui & Co and partners will develop the Ibri and Sohar-3 natural gas fired power generation projects in Oman.
The Japanese firm along with Saudi Arabian power company ACWA Power and Dhofar International Development and Investment Holding Co. SAOG (DIDIC) of Oman were awarded the contract by Oman Power and Water Procurement Company (OPWP), Mitsui said in a release Monday.
Mitsui as lead investor will have a 50.1 percent shareholding.
The two power plants will have combined capacity of 3,150MW with Ibri having a capacity of 1,450MW and Sohar having a capacity of 1,700MW.
Mitsui will operate both plants and sell electric power under a 15-year power purchase agreement with OPWP.
