Mitsubishi Power to supply gas turbines to Uzbek power plant

Mitsubishi Power, a unit of Japan’s Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI), has secured an order for two M701JAC gas turbines for a natural gas-fired power plant in the Syrdarya region of Uzbekistan, MHI said on July 10.

The power plant, with a capacity of 1.6 GW, is being developed by Enersok, a project company owned by EDF, Nebras Power, Sojitz Corporation, and Kyuden International Corporation.

The power plant, located south of Tashkent, aims to enhance high-efficiency and low-carbon power generation infrastructure in line with Uzbekistan's roadmap for carbon neutrality in the power sector by 2050, MHI said.

The project involves replacing an existing gas-fired power plant with a modern and high-efficiency combined cycle power plant.

Mitsubishi Power will supply two M701JAC gas turbines and provide technical advisers for installation, commissioning, and long-term service support. The M701JAC gas turbine is part of the J-Series.
