Mitsubishi Power secures order for JAC Series gas turbine at Uzbek CCGT

Mitsubishi Power has won an order for the JAC Series gas turbine for the third facility, Navoi 3, planned at the Navoi power plant in Uzbekistan, it said on February 13. 

The upcoming Navoi 3 facility is set to feature a combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT), designed to generate 600 MW of electric power and produce 200 Gcal/h of heat. The commencement of commercial operations is slated for 2026. This marks the third order Mitsubishi Power has received for CCGT equipment for the Navoi power plant.

The Navoi power plant is located approximately 360 km southwest of Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan. Mitsubishi Power had previously supplied power generation equipment for the Navoi 1 and Navoi 2 power plants, which commenced operations in 2013 and 2019, respectively.

Navoi 3 is designed to leverage gas-fired power generation, catering to the electricity needs of the surrounding area. Additionally, it will play a vital role in supplying industrial steam and district heating to the Navoi Free Economic Zone (Navoi FEZ), contributing to the economic development of the region. 

In addition to supplying the gas and steam turbines, Mitsubishi Power will handle the design, procurement, manufacture, and commissioning of the core components of the power generation facilities and auxiliary equipment, such as air-cooled condensers and gas compressors. The generator will be manufactured by Mitsubishi Electric Corporation.
