Mitsubishi in Pair of Firsts
Mitsubishi Shipbuilding said December 24 it had delivered the first fuel gas supply system (FGSS) designed specifically for dual-fuel marine engines, with the system set to be installed in the first LNG-fueled pure car carrier (PCC) to be built in Japan.
The FGSS is an LNG fuel gas supply system that utilises LNG and vaporised gas handling technology developed through Mitsubishi’s long experience in the construction of LNG carriers. It has been verified for marine use after extensive testing in marine engine test facilities at engine manufacturers.

The system consists of LNG fuel tanks, LNG fuel gas supply units and other components, and is delivered in modules, which contributes to the optimum design of available cargo space and shortens the installation period. Mitsubishi will also provide engineering service and technical support to Shin Kurushima Toyohashi Shipbuilding Co, which is building the PCC.
