Oz Vali Reserves Get Certified

Reserves at the Vali gas discovery in Queensland have been independently certified, Sydney-listed operator Vintage Energy said on December 14.

The Vali-1 ST1 well discovered stacked gas pay in the Nappamerri, Toolachee and Patchawarra formations, but the reserves report by ERCE covers only the Patchawarra structure, Vintage said. The company said the reserves certification supported the commercialisation of Vali, due to be connected to the Moomba gathering system.

In its report, ERCE estimated gross 1P reserves for the Patchawarra formation only at 12.3bn ft3, 2P at 30.3bn ft3 and 3P at 78.9bn ft3. Vintage said it was hopeful that more gas can be recovered than the 2P amount estimated by ERCE, “with upside to potentially come from stacked reservoirs including the shallower Nappamerri group and Toolachee formations.”

Metgasco was awarded 100% of the ATP2021 licence in 2018 and went on to farm out a 50% licence interest and operatorship to Vintage in May 2019, followed by a further 25% interest to Bridgeport in August.  The Vali discovery in Queensland was announced in January this year.
