"Kyrgyzstan's energy security depends on tariff policy," the Director General of the National Grid of the KR OJSC Medetbek Aitkulov announced today at the roundtable "The medium-term tariff policy of the KR - energy security".

According to him, Kyrgyzstan has to build new energy facilities at credit means, which must be repaid. "If we hadn't taken loans previously, we couldn't ensure independence of Talas province, there would be problems with electricity in Bishkek. Of course, no one gives money for nothing. Yes, loans are provided on concessional terms, but they have to be returned," Medetbek Aitkulov said.

He added that currently Datka substation is built on loan funds. "Generating stations are located in the south, and mass consumption of electricity is in the north. Therefore, electricity needs to be transported through lines. There is only one high-voltage line of 500 kW. We need more funds for finishing the second line. And everything depends on the rate and lack of funds," Medetbek Aitkulov said.
