McDermott Hands Over US Power Plant
US engineering firm McDermott has achieved substantial completion of Entergy Louisiana's St Charles Power Station, a combined-cycle gas power station in Montz, Louisiana. The 980-MW plant has now been turned over to the owner and has begun commercial operations, it said June 19.
The new plant is more efficient and expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions on average by about 40% compared with Entergy's older units. Entergy Louisiana estimates the new plant will result in customer savings of more than $1.3bn over the anticipated 30-year life of the unit,
