McDermott lands EPCI contract at Timor-Leste
US-based upstream services company McDermott International said July 7 it had landed a contract to support the development of the Bayu-Undan field off Timor-Leste.
Australian energy company Santos awarded, for undisclosed terms, the subsea, engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) contract for work on the Phase 3C project at the field.

“The McDermott scope involves a tieback of a single in-field well to existing facilities re-using existing flexible flowline with a new umbilical and certain infrastructure,” the company said.
The project, given a final investment decision in January, comprises three production wells and will develop additional natural gas and liquids reserves.
Santos early this year said the project would add more than 20mn barrels of oil equivalent reserves, extending the life of Bayu-Undan, among the largest fields in the region, and cutting the reductions expected before the Barossa gas project comes on line.
Santos is the operator of the Barossa project and announced the final investment decision to proceed with the project in March. First gas from Barossa to backfill Darwin LNG is expected in the first half of 2025.
