McDermott Completes Malaysia Job
US engineers McDermott International said June 8 it had finished the Pan Malaysia transportation and installation projects for Anglo-Dutch Shell and SapuraOMV offshore Sarawak.
Awarded in November 2018, the projects included the transport and installation of jackets, topsides and pipelines for the Gorek, Larak and Bakong gas fields. McDermott used one of its vessels to install the structures and pipelines, including the country's longest corrosion resistant alloy pipeline. McDermott also made risers and spools in its facility in Batam, Indonesia.
"McDermott's commitment to safety resulted in 1.3mn work hours without a lost-time injury on the project," the company said.
Malaysian producer Sapura and Austrian OMV set up their 50-50 joint venture around the time of the contract award.
