McDermott, Baker Hughes complete subsea infrastructure at Ichthys gas field

McDermott and Baker Hughes have completed the installation of subsea infrastructure at the Ichthys gas field in northern Australia, they said on January 25.

The project, awarded in 2019 by Inpex, involved the engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) of umbilicals, risers, and flowlines (URF). The subsea production system, featuring a new 7-inch vertical Christmas tree (VXT) system, forms a subsea well-gathering system tied back to the existing Ichthys Explorer central processing facility.

The consortium's scope of work also included an in-fill URF EPCI, incorporating the development of new subsea wells integrated into the existing gathering systems.

The Ichthys gas field was discovered in 2000 and developed by Inpex in partnership with Total, Tokyo Gas, Osaka Gas, Chubu Electric Power, Toho Gas, Kansai Electric Power, and CPC. It supplies gas to the IchthysLNG export project.
