McDermott bags contract for Kikeh subsea gas lift project offshore Malaysia

McDermott International has been awarded an offshore transportation, installation, and commissioning contract from Thai PTTEP for the Kikeh subsea gas lift project, located offshore Sabah in East Malaysia, it said on March 27.

Under the terms of the contract, McDermott will undertake the removal of the existing flexible gas lift riser and execute the installation and commissioning of a new dynamic riser section and flowline, which will comprise two thermoplastic composite pipe jumpers. These components will facilitate the efficient delivery of gas to a subsea production system, enhancing overall operational performance tied back to the Kikeh floating production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) vessel.

Project management and engineering activities will be coordinated from McDermott's office in Kuala Lumpur, with additional support provided by other McDermott offices worldwide.

Operated by PTTEP on behalf of partners Petronas and Pertamina, the Kikeh field has been producing from the existing Kikeh FPSO since 2007. The Kikeh FPSO is the first and largest deepwater FPSO in Malaysia.
