Man Energy Bags Feed Work At Oz Field

Germany’s Man Energy Solutions said July 17 it has landed a contract to assist Norway’s Aker Solutions with front-end engineering design (Feed) work at a gas field off the coast of northwest Australia.

The Feed study is for a subsea compression station at the Jansz-Io field operated by Chevron. Aker secured a contract for the study in March, which will also cover the design of an unmanned power and control floater, along with overall field system engineering services. Man Energy’s work will cover the technology of the subsea compression facility.

“We are very proud to work with our alliance partner Aker Solutions on the Jansz-Io field development project for Chevron Australia,” Man Energy’s CEO Uwe Lauber said in a statement. “Thanks to this project, we will be able to prove once again the unrivalled value and reliability of our groundbreaking subsea compression solution.”

The contractor noted that its subsea compression solutions has already been employed successfully at the offshore Asgard gas deposit in Norway, operated by state-owned Equinor. Compressors at the site have been running for 50,000 hours almost non-stop without incident since December last year, it said.

The Jansz-Io field lies 200 km offshore in waters 1,350 metres deep. The subsea compressors are designed to boost the deposit’s gas recovery, helping to maintain output as reservoir pressure declines.
