Lund Joins BP Board Early
BP announced July 26 that Helge Lund and Pamela Daley joined its board as non-executive directors the same day.
It had announced April 26 that Lund, who was CEO of Statoil (now Equinor) from 2004 to 2014 and later headed BG Group, would join the board as a non-executive director on 1 September, becoming BP chairman on January 1 2019 when Carl-Henric Svanberg steps down. BP now says Lund had been able now to join the board earlier, but that the timing of his succession to chairman would be unaffected.
Lund is, among other posts, a non-executive director at Danish pharmaceuticals firm Novo Nordisk (banner photo is courtesy of that company).
Daley spent most of her career with US conglomerate and turbine-maker GE, holding roles including senior adviser to the chairman and as its senior vice president handling global mergers, acquisitions and divestments; she is a director of BlackRock and was a director of BG Group from 2014-16 prior to its acquisition by Shell – including during Lund's one-year tenure as BG CEO which started February 2015.
