Longboat spuds Copernicus well off Norway
Poland's PGNiG has started drilling the Copernicus exploration well in Norwegian Sea licence 1017, project partner Longboat Energy reported on August 30.
Copernicus is the primary prospect at the licence, which lies on the Utgard High in the Voring basin region of the Norwegian Sea. The Deepsea Yantai rig is expected to take up to eight weeks to drill the well.

For Longboat, this marks the second well to be spudded in a three-well, gas-focused exploration campaign at its licences. The drilling of the first well, Oswig, is also underway.
"Longboat Energy's exploration programme offers shareholders a unique opportunity to gain gas weighted drilling exposure targeting net mean prospective resource potential of 70mn barrels of oil equivalent with an upside case of 142mn boe," the company's CEO Helge Hammer said in a statement.
PGNiG has a 50% interest in licence 1017, while Equinor has 40% and Longboat 10%.
