Lithuanian Energy Firm Expands in Poland
Lithuania's state energy firm Ignitis has begun supplying gas and power to business customers in Poland, it said on July 28, consolidating its position in the country.
The company entered Poland in 2017 but until now has only traded power on the wholesale market, with annual sales reaching up to 5 TWh/yr.
"We have been operating in the Polish market for several years, we’ve accumulated considerable experience, therefore we are aware of the needs and expectations of local customers," Ignitis' regional manager for Poland, Diana Kazakevic, said in a statement. "Entering the segment of energy supply to business customers is natural for the further development of the company." The two countries are linked by the Gas Interconnector Poland-Lithuania.
Ignitis has also recruited a new head of sales in Poland, Robert Matuszewski. The utility is also investing in wind energy in Poland.
