Kulczyk Oil Ventures Increases Ukrainian Production Following Frack
Kulczyk Oil Ventures has announced that it has increased production from its Ukrainian Olgovskoye-6 (O-6) well following a successful fracking operation.
The operation sees Kulczyk's partially owned subsidiary KUB-Gas increasing commercial production from the well by 1.5 million cubic feet a day, bringing average daily production to more than 18.5 million cubic feet a day. Kulczyk Oil Ventures holds a 70 per cent stake in KUB-Gas.
The O-6 well was first drilled in 2008 to a total depth of 2,530 metres and targeted a potential gas-bearing zone. However, after drilling to a depth of 2,270 metres, KUB-Gas discovered that the zone was not capable of achieving successful commercial flow rates after evaluation. Evaluation at that time indicated the R30c zone of Middle Bashkirian age had a very low permeability of less than 1 millidarcy.
KUB-Gas then performed hydraulic fracture stimulation on the well in the last quarter of 2011, as part of a two well frack programme which included the Olgovskoye-8 (O-8) well. A 14 metre thick interval on the zone was then fracked with 25 tonnes of ceramic proppant, liberating the gas trapped in the R30c reservoir. The frack was successful, producing test flow rates of up to 2.3 million cubic feet of gas a day.
The second well in the two well frack programme, the Olgovskoye-8 (O-8) well, is expected to be onstream by early March.
