KOGAS Reports 15% Jump in July Gas Sales
Korea Gas Corp (KOGAS) on Thursday said its domestic gas sales in July rose 15.2% on year.
The South Korean monopoly sold 2.19 million tonnes of LNG equivalent in July, compared with 1.90 million tonnes in July 2015, KOGAS said in a statement.
Gas sold for power generation amounted to little over 1.29 million tonnes, a 28.1 percent rise on year while gas sold to household and businesses amounted to 875,000 tonnes of LNG equivalent, down 1.4%.
Rise is gas sales in July comes after continuous decline is recent months. KOGAS sold 1.96 million tonnes of LNG equivalent in June, down 2.7% on year. In May, sales were down year-on-year as well. They declined 8.6% from a year earlier.
There is clear trend in of declining gas consumption in both South Korea and Japan, two of the biggest LNG importers in the world.
