Karpowership Starts Indonesia LNG Power Ship Project
Turkey’s Karpowership has kicked off its LNG to power ship project in Amurang, Indonesia, the company said on September 28 on LinkedIn.
Earlier this week 125-MW power ship Zeynep Sultan began power generation using LNG after the successful conversion of its first two dual-fuel engines. This LNG to power ship project consists of the collaborative operations of the floating storage regasification unit (FSRU) to deliver regasified LNG and the power ship to receive regasified LNG in order to produce electricity.
The LNG-to-power project is part of an agreement with Indonesian state-owned utility PLN and Sulawesi Regas Satu, which operates FSRU Hua Xiang 8m.
“We are delighted to announce the success of our first LNG-to-power project. This is milestone achievement for our plans to have 80% of power ships running on LNG by 2025,” the company said.
