Jubilant Spuds Arunachal Pradesh Well

Jubilant Energy has spudded KPL-C, the second of the seven development wells of the Phase-III drilling campaign at Kharsang field in the eastern Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh on Monday.

Located in the eastern area of the field, KPL-C will target the shallow C-50, D-00 and deeper Girujan reservoirs besides the structurally higher bright amplitude prospects identified by Seismic testing, the company said.

The well will be deviated by approx. 712 metres to the ESE direction from the existing plinth of well KSG-39 and reach a target depth of around 1224 metres True Vertical Depth (TVD) with an option to go to 1598 metres TVD if possible.

The well which will take four weeks to drill, has been estimated to cost approx. $2.3 million ($0.57 million net to Jubilant).

Based on the wireline log interpretation results of the first development well KSG#57 spudded last month and subsequently drilled later, formation pressure data was analyzed from Sequential Formation Testing and Side Wall Core, enabling the consortium to identify four separate intervals totaling to 20 metres of net sand for testing. The testing results are expected within 7 to 10 days from the day of the start.

GeoEnpro Petroleum, a joint venture of GeoPetrol and Jubilant Enpro (a member of the wider Jubilant Bhartia Group), is the operator of the Kharsang field. Jubilant holds a 25% interest in the block through its subsidiary, Jubilant Energy (Kharsang) while Oil India Ltd and GeoPetrol are other members of the consortium.
